She is about to be bestowed with the prestigious label of a “Change Agent” as an acknowledgment of her hard work and dedication.
Univision has recently announced that Shakira, a globally acclaimed artist, will receive the prestigious “Change Agent” award at this year’s twentieth annual Premios Juventud. The event, which will be broadcast live from Puerto Rico’s José Miguel Agrelot Coliseum, is set to take place on Thursday, July 20, at 7:00 p.m.
A special occasion airing on TeleOnce in Puerto Rico will honor the accomplished musician and philanthropist from Colombia, who has been acknowledged for her exceptional impact on music and social welfare through Fundación Pies Descalzos.
Ever since Shakira embarked on her career, she has been passionately committed to various social causes. One of her notable contributions is the establishment of the “Fundación Pies Descalzos” in 1997, which focuses on providing education and support to disadvantaged children and their families in Colombia. Her goal is to create equal opportunities for these individuals and help them achieve a brighter future.
To prioritize the education of underprivileged children, she began working with the public system and the Department of Education in Colombia. Through “Fundación Pies Descalzos,” she offered access to information, technology, language, dance, and nutrition. The foundation has expanded beyond just assisting children and now supports parents and teachers as well, creating job opportunities within the communities where their schools are located.
For the sixth year in a row, Premios Juventud has been honoring music, fashion, and pop culture. However, it’s not just about putting on a show – the event also acknowledges individuals who are positively impacting their communities. These “Change Agents” consist of both artists and young Latinos who utilize their influence to encourage social good. The list of previous recipients is impressive and includes renowned names such as Maluma, Daddy Yankee, J Balvin, Ricky Martin, Becky G, Pitbull, and more. Additionally, entities such as the Jenni Rivera Foundation have also been recognized for their efforts.
Shakira has received an impressive nine nominations for the upcoming award ceremony. She is a strong competitor in categories such as “Best Song for my Former Lover”, “Empowering Women”, “Top Pop/Urban Collaboration”, and “Female Artist of Premios Juventud”, among others.
